CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS

Writer's Choice (6 years +)

For our younger learners, we aim first and foremost to inspire a love of literature. We actively encourage them to immerse themselves in the playground of their imagination and explore their own literary creativity. Changing themes help to keep focus fresh and alive as the literacy skills of our youngest writers grow through fun, stimulating and challenging exercises.

Writer's Choice 10+

Writer's Choice (9 years +)

Refining students into strong and effective writers is our main purpose for the older learners. By fine-tuning their skills, they will be able to compose concise, accurate and technical pieces of writing. The programme is tailored to develop critical and analytical aptitude. We also hope to build their confidence and discussion skills through exercises that centre on articulating thoughts.

At the end of each course, the students will have a piece of prose or non-fiction writing to add to their portfolios.

SPEECH, MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS WORKSHOPS

Speak Aloud! (7 years +)

Imagination and Creativity are key in our Beginner's Speech and Communication skills workshops, while core skills in projection, tone, inflection, movement, expression and gesture are formed and established through specialised games, exercises and activities, which establish a strong foundation for young communicators to build upon.

Focusing on peer to peer communication, team-building and confidence boosting, our project-based programme fosters creative communication skills in story-telling, personal narrative, choral speaking, speech and debate, as well as stand-alone workshops in specialised areas including game development, reader's theatre and imaginative responses.

Speak Out!

Speak Aloud! (11 years +)

Building on their burgeoning communication skills, our Junior Speech and Communication skills workshops for ages 11-13 years aims to develop students' confidence and personal development by focusing on the art of speech-craft, persuasive speaking, effective presentation and leadership skills.

Our project-based programme - which offers a broad introduction to news, advertising and media production - is designed to encourage and foster critical thinking, creative problem-solving and independent learning, while strengthening core skills in both verbal and non-verbal communication.

Speak Aloud!

Speak Aloud! (13 years +)

Honing and polishing communication and presentation skills forms the cornerstone of our Advanced Speak Aloud! workshops for ages 13 and above.

Focusing on advanced communications skills in negotiation, persuasive speaking and conflict resolution, students will also learn how effectively engage with the wider world around them through current affairs, media and technology. Through our intensive project and research-based workshops, students are encouraged to become accomplished, independent and self-motivated life-long learners, with a critical understanding of the real-life applications of their newly developed Communication and Media skills.

Our programme also offers advanced training in formal and informal public-speaking to defined audiences (real and imagined), resume and interview preparation, and an introduction to communication theory, which encourages students to think critically and with purpose about their role in the wider world.

THEATRE & PERFORMING ARTS WORKSHOPS

Intro 2 Drama

Intro 2 Drama (4 years +)

With a curriculum specially designed for younger performers, our introductory drama courses encourage children to begin to use gesture, movement, expression, body language and dance in performance practice.

Tackling a new story or theme every 6-8 weeks, children grow in confidence as their skill-set expands to incoporate group-work, effective communication and imaginative responses to story-telling and narrative-based activities, including mime, movement, puppetry and sensory exploration.

Mini-showcase performances in our black-box theatre throughout the school year help to motivate young performers in showing off the new skills and stories they have learned to family and friends.

Colour My World Youth Theatre

Performance Practice:Colour My World Youth Theatre  (6 - 16 years)

Everyone between the age of six and 16 are welcome to apply for a place in Colour My World’s annual Youth Theatre Performance.  You need not have any previous acting or performance experience!  We look for a cast of young people who are imaginative, hard working, and committed performers that can work well with others – because this is just as important as an ability to perform.

We need creative people with plenty of imagination, as each company member will be expected to work independently on their characterization and stage presence.  At Colour My World, we operate with an all-inclusive attitude.  We aim to offer performance opportunities to as many auditionees as possible; no matter how seasoned a performer they may, or may not be.

The competitive aspect of our audition process relates specifically to the selection of principal cast members and the allocation of all other auditionees to an ability-appropriate ensemble group.

Past performances that benefited LAP, Asia ACTs, Room to Read, Mother’s Choice - just to name a few - are :
